Once you submit your FAFSA you may be asked to provide additional information to our office. The U.S. Department of Education requires that schools verify certain information for accuracy. The purpose of this is to ensure that the students with the highest eligibility for federal funds are given access to these funds.
Some of the materials that may be requested in conducting the verification of student and parent data include:
- Photocopy of the student's and parent's signed prior year federal tax return, schedules and W-2's (for 2009-2010 academic year) this would require the 2008 federal tax return (for 2010-2011 academic year) this would require the 2009 federal tax return
- Photocopy of the student's birth certificate
- Photocopy of student's marriage certificate
- Photocopy of the student's DD214
- Photocopy of INS Documents if not a U.S. Citizen
- Photocopy of student's social security card
